Eloyce N. Van Lue — UPDATED
Eloyce N. Van Lue, 90, Goshen, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at Goshen Hospital. She was born Nov. 5, 1930, in Tipton, to Homer Marcus and Helen Lorene (Burkhardt) Brinegar.
She graduated from Tipton High School and received her B.A & Master’s Degree from Ball State in Muncie. She was married Nov. 24, 1950, to John Richard Van Lue who preceded her Dec. 17, 1978. She grew up in Tipton and lived in the Rochester and Akron area before moving to Syracuse in 1962. She retired from Wawasee Community School Corporation as an elementary teacher for many years and formerly taught at Bremen, Akron, Florida, and Georgia.
She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Syracuse and a local teacher’s retirement group.
She is survived by her daughter, Dianne (Dick) Moake, Fort Wayne; two sons: J. David Van Lue, Syracuse; Doug (Marcia) Van Lue, Nicholasville, Ky.; 12 grandchildren; several great and great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Barbara Van Lue, Syracuse.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, Dan Van Lue, great grandson, Beckett Van Lue, twin sister, Joyce Gindelberger, and daughter-in-law, Fran Van Lue.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Private family services will take place at the funeral home with Pastor David Henry officiating. Burial will be in the Syracuse Cemetery.
