Carol A. Bahney, 80, Rochester, formerly of Akron, passed at 4:14 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2021, at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
She was born June 7, 1940, in Kokomo, she was the daughter of George and Mary Francis Marquis. She married Nov. 27, 1981, in Lapel, to Marvin G. Bahney, who preceded her in death on July 10, 2012.
Carol had been a bartender at the Eagles Lodge #2634 of Rochester as well as at the Elks Lodge, working in the Pro Shop. She was also a member of both organizations for many years.
She attended school in Macy. She was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and the Moose all of Rochester. She loved to play golf and was an avid Notre Dame Women’s Basketball fan where she held season tickets with her best friends Joyce Harmon and Shelly Newell. In years past she enjoyed quilting and playing cards. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and caring for her dogs and cats.
She is survived by daughters: Kelly Shambarger, Centerville, Ohio; Lela and husband Gordon Nash, Warsaw; Lory and husband Joe Headdy, Fort Wayne, Ind; Jill and husband Kevin Pugh, Rochester; sons: Chuck and wife Robin Shambarger, Jackson, N.J.; Marty and wife Kathy Bahney, Winona Lake; Ty Bahney, Rochester; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and brothers: Raymond and wife Eileen Crousore, Cincinnati, Ohio; Paul and Sandi Crousore, Florida; George and wife Linda Marquis, Florida; and Mike and wife Becky Marquis, Fort Wayne.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marvin Bahney, sons, Randy Shambarger and Christopher “Skip” Shambarger; a daughter, Jana Bahney-Green; and a granddaughter, Aubrey Hogue and a grandson Landon Reser.
Carol’s interment will be in the Akron Cemetery, Akron. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
The arrangements are entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron.
