Jess Delmar Poyser
Jess Delmar Poyser, 93, Syracuse, formerly of Cromwell, passed away Monday, Jan. 18, 2021. He was born Dec. 19, 1927, in Ligonier, to Michael “George” and Gertrude “Ethel” (Hursey) Poyser. On July 13, 1948, in South Whitley, he married Annie Mae (Kuhn). She preceded him in death in 1999.
He worked for Cromwell Lumber Company and Starcraft for many years. He was a jack of all trades. He and his wife enjoyed a crafting business and traveled around to craft shows for many years. He also enjoyed fishing and camping.
Jess Poyser is survived by his children: John D. (Lucy) Poyser, Minooka, Ill.; Anita (Larry) Price, North Webster; Alyce M. Evans, Bremen; John Mock, Niles, Mich.; William L. (Mindy) Mock, Stone Lake, Mich.; 19 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three sons, Jerry D. Poyser, Joseph D. Poyser, and Jeffrey D. Poyser; along with three brothers, Michael Arthur Poyser, Marvin Poyser, and Donald Poyser.
A funeral service will be held in Jess Poyser’s honor at noon Friday, Jan. 22, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South, Ligonier. Pastor Tim Jones will officiate. Burial will follow Oak Grove Cemetery in North Webster where military honors will be conducted.
Family and friends will be received from 5-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21, at Yeager Funeral Home.
