Goshen 36, Wawasee 32
A pin late in the contest by Nick Olson in the 126-pound match gave Goshen enough cushion to claim a Northern Lakes Conference dual win just days before the conference tournament.
Olson worked a 9-2 advantage over Brenden Dilley after two periods, then after a takedown, worked into a pin at 5:49 for six points to put the RedHawks out of reach, 36-29, with just one dual to go.
Wawasee, wrestling without a 170 and its regular 285, gave up 12 points in those two columns. The Warriors started the night leading 16-3, but soon was trailing 30-16.
Scoring for the Warriors included a pair of successive tech falls from Jace Alexander and Gavin Malone, followed by a pin at 1:22 by Tim Shortt. Dylan Tom also had a third period pin, Logan Stuckman and Hunter Miller each had decisions, and Kaleb Salazar added a major decision.
Wawasee (4-3 NLC) and Goshen both will enter the NLC Championships on Saturday at Warsaw.
