WARSAW – The Kosciusko County Area Planning Department announced it will soon make available an online permitting system.
Assistant Planning Director Matt Sandy told the plan commission on Wednesday that a new system has been created that will allow residents and builders to apply for building permits online instead of coming into the office.
The option to come into the office will still exist. Sandy said that the current pandemic has shown how necessary this new system is.
The hope is that this system will be available to use in the next month or two.
The other aspect of the new system is the introduction of permit fees. Currently, permits that are obtained before construction begins have no fees attached. In the future, the county is looking at implementing fees ranging from $10 to $25.
Sandy said that these fees come in way below what neighboring counties are currently charging. This change would require a new ordinance and the fees are not in effect at this time.
