Mildred Mikel
Mildred Mikel, 96, Syracuse, passed away on Jan. 1, 2021, at Paddock Springs, Warsaw.
She was born on Dec. 2, 1924, in Kosciusko County to Harvey and Hazel (Stackhouse) Moore.
On March 22, 1947, she married Stanley Mikel. He preceded her in death in 2003.
She loved helping her husband on the farm during her younger years. She had a passion for gardening and taking care of her house plants. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and was a longtime member of the Ligonier Evangelical Church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Carol (Floyd) Murphy, Syracuse, and Donna (Doug) Kunce, Cromwell; two sons, Russ (Pat) Mikel, Syracuse, and Brian (Misty) Mikel, New Paris; 18 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021, from 4-8 p.m. at the Eastlund Funeral Home. Her service will be on Wednesday, Jan. 6, at 10 a.m. at the Ligonier Evangelical Church. Burial will follow at Oak Park Cemetery, Ligonier. Due to the current COVID-19 situation, the funeral home as well as the church will require that face masks be worn and that social distancing be observed.
