John L. Mahaska
John L. Mahaska, 71, rural Mentone (Palestine) passed away at 2:37 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2020, at his residence.
He was born on Feb. 11, 1949, in Kokomo, to the late Marion A. and Jessie (Shaffer) Mahaska. He married on Oct. 11, 1974, in Warsaw, to Jacklene Shepherd, who survives.
He was a member of the Burket United Methodist Church and had been a lumber handler for Tushing Brothers Lumber Yard of Leesburg. He always enjoyed working on old cars and he even collected diecast cars. His joy was spending time with his grandchildren. He spent a lot of time collecting and watching old television shows.
He is survived by his wife: Jackie Mahaska, Mentone; daughters: Alicia (Arishmed) Dese, Mentone; and Virginia Mahaska (Keith Alexander), Mentone; sons: Claude David Mullins, Pierceton; James Isaac (Lynn) Mullins, Pierceton; Craig Hampton (Terri Mullins) Warsaw; and John Allen Mahaska, South Bend; 18 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters: Inez Jackson, Tennessee; Shirley Brown, Kokomo; and Gloria Pickerton, Kokomo; and a step-brother, Danny Hale, Warsaw.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: Steve and Robert Mahaska.
Following his wishes, no visitation or service will be held at this time.
