Phyllis Maxcine Custer
Phyllis Maxcine Custer, 93, Warsaw, formerly of Milford, passed away at 7:50 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2020, at Goshen Hospital. She was born on Aug. 17, 1927, in Wolf Lake, to Arthur Ray and Alta (Speicher) Evans.
She graduated in 1945 from Milford High School and attended Goshen College. She was married on Nov. 17, 1946 in Milford, to Stanley Max “Stan” Custer who preceded her on Dec. 20, 2018. She was the former co-owner and operator of Big Boulder Golf Course in Milford, Little Bighorn Golf Course in Warsaw, and Stanley Custer & Sons Excavating in Milford. She lived most of her life in Milford before moving to Warsaw in July 2019.
She was a member of the Milford Christian Church and the Red Hat Club in Milford. She loved the Lord & her family and was a role model to everyone. She made friends with everyone she met.
She is survived by three sons: Darrell Ray (Mabel) Custer of Milford, Dale Gene (Peg) Custer of Milford, and Dwight John “Ike” Custer of LeHigh Acres, Fla.; six grandchildren: Kelly (Mark) McCormack, Derek (Brenda) Custer, Leslie (Nate) Conley, Adam (Marissa) Custer, Clint Custer, and Andrew (Alyssa) Custer; 10 great-grandchildren:Austin, Cohen, Brooks, Casen, Dominoe, Zideon, and Xzariya Custer, Ella and Jacob Conley, and Beckam McCormack
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and four brothers: Warren, Richard, Arthur Jr., and Roger Evans.
Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 31, at the Milford Christian Church, 201 N. Henry St, Milford. Burial will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery.
