Excited For The Future Of The School Corporation
Dear Editor:
It is with great excitement that I write this letter in support of the recommendation and hiring of Dr. Troyer as the superintendent of Wawasee Community School Corporation. I have had the pleasure to work alongside Dr. Troyer as a building principal during the 2019-20 school year and during the last few months in which he has served as the assistant superintendent.
In all of my interactions with Dr. Troyer, it has been clear that he is well on his way to becoming not just a superintendent, but a great superintendent. First and foremost, Dr. Troyer has proven himself to be a good man. As a community, we want to know that the person leading our school district, more personably our children, is a good and honest man or woman.
Dr. Troyer is a listener. He is a processor. He is willing to step out of his comfort zone and listen to a totally different perspective on a situation. He’s willing to accept constructive feedback. Dr. Troyer operates this way as he knows there is value in all people. These are qualities of a good person attempting to do his or her best for those they are serving.
Secondly, Dr. Troyer has a strong understanding of instruction and leading others to be instructionally sound. He is a leader in which teachers and administrators respect for his knowledge and ability to teach and train others. WCSC recently pivoted to being a Professional Learning Community school district. We know and believe that this will help drive WCSC to increased academic achievement. Dr. Troyer’s understanding of PLCs and instruction will be vital in driving this initiative.
While there are many more reasons I am excited to work with Dr. Troyer in his new role, the last reason I will refer to is his love for kids. It was evident through the videos last spring that Dr. Troyer, along with Milford Assistant Principal Mr. Casey put kids first. Dr. Troyer showed his light-hearted side and ability to put himself out there through goofy videos in order to engage with his students.
During the times in which I have worked with Dr. Troyer where a difficult decision needed to be made, his driving focus has always been what is best for kids. I know and trust this philosophy will maintain in his role as superintendent. I am excited for the future of Wawasee Community School Corporation. I am excited for the future of Wawasee High School. I believe we have a great leader in place, surrounded by three wonderful communities that make up Wawasee, along with the best darn kids in the state of Indiana.
For all of this, I am proud to be a Warrior.
