Janice Studebaker
Janice L. Studebaker, 73, formerly of Columbia City, died at 2:45 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at The Laurels of Dekalb, where she had been a resident for the past two months.
She was born Jan. 12, 1947, at Luckey Hospital in Wolf Lake, a daughter of the late W. Harlan and Frances V. (Gadson) Ulrich. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City, and she graduated from Columbia City Joint High School.
On March 30, 1986, she married Robert D. Studebaker. They made their home in Columbia City. Robert died on Oct. 18, 2010.
She was a homemaker, raising her children.
In her senior years she pursued learning to play the piano. Enjoying a good card game, she preferred the more mentally challenging rummy game of Phase 10 and the Uno game of Skipbow. She was a loyal and dedicated member of The Order of Eastern Star #65 and the Eagles 1906, Columbia City.
She is survived by her children, Steven H. (Jenni) Licata, South Whitley, Anthony J. Licata, Columbia City and Michael D. Licata III, Auburn, Wanda Studebaker, West Chester Ohio., D. Brian (Caryn Beth) Studebaker, Columbia City, Justin R. Studebaker, South Whitley and Samuel (Linda) Licata, Land of Lakes, Fla; 20 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two stepsons, Michael D. Licata II and Richard D. Licata; and brothers, Frederick Ulrich and James Ulrich.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 22, at Smith & Sons Funeral Home with burial in the Troy Presbyterian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Smith & Sons.
