Warsaw Man Accused Of Domestic Battery

WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after allegedly hitting and choking a woman.
Juan E. Mendoza, 39, 918 E. Winona Ave., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present, a level 6 felony; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On June 16, 2019, a Warsaw Police officer spoke with a woman regarding an accusation of battery. The woman said she had a verbal argument with Mendoza on June 15, 2019.
According to court documents, the argument became physical when Mendoza allegedly hit and choked the woman. The woman also said Mendoza grabbed her head and hit her arms. The officer noticed the woman had scratches and bruises on her neck, face and arms.
The woman said a child was present during the incident and could have seen or heard Mendoza battering her. She said the battery stopped when a woman came and took her and the child to a residence.
Mendoza was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on this matter on Dec. 15, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
