Raymond E. ‘R.E.’ Borkholder
Raymond E. “R.E.” Borkholder, 74, Nappanee, died at 2 p.m., Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at his residence after a six week illness.
He was born Nov. 13, 1946, in Bremen to Eli Jay and Catherine (Coblentz) Borkholder. On May 24, 1967, he married Wilma I. Hochstetler in Nappanee. She preceded him in death December 6, 2019.
Mr. Borkholder was a member of the Old Order Amish Church.
Surviving are his children, Sylvia (Aaron) Stutzman, Etna Green, Alvin Borkholder, New Paris, John (Elizabeth) Borkholder, Norma (Daniel) Jones, both of Nappanee, Ruby (Andrew) Chupp, Etna Green, Teresa (Joseph) Miller, Goshen, Nathan (Lawanda) Borkholder, Nappanee, Wilma (David) Miller, Millersburg, Raymond (Christina) Borkholder, Nappanee, Matthew (Diane) Borkholder, New Paris, Dawn (Special friend, Steward Hummel) Borkholder, Nappanee, Regina (Dylan) Nissley, Goshen, Lisa (Myron) Miller, Nappanee; 44 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and sister, Amanda (Mervin) Lapp, Quaker City, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Daniel, Jacob, Menno, Joseph, and John Henry Borkholder; and sisters, Ada Borkholder, Anna Ropp, Sara Borkholder, Emma Miller, and Clara Hochstetler.
Family and friends may call after 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15, and all day Wednesday, Dec. 16, at the Wilbur Miller Residence, 70050 West County Line Rd. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 17, also at the Miller residence. Home Ministry of the Old Order Amish Church will officiate and burial will be in Borkholder Cemetery.
