LeRoy Eugene Konkle
LeRoy Eugene Konkle, 70, of Warsaw, passed away at 8:52 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, 2020, at Grace Village Health Care in Winona Lake.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1950, in Warsaw, to Delphine and Robert Konkle. On Sept. 24, 1994, he was married to Beverly June (George) Konkle. They shared 26 years of marriage together before he passed away.
LeRoy was a 1968 graduate of Warsaw High School and he was proud of graduating from Notre Dame and making the dean’s list. He was a truck driver his entire life retiring in 2018. Being a truck driver, he most often had a smile on his face and would wave at other drivers, but at the same time a truck drivers life was sometimes frustrating, challenging and satisfying – often all on the same day. When he wasn’t on the road, he enjoyed woodworking, especially making things for his grandchildren. As a handyman, he was great with his hands and repaired computers. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family at God’s Highway to Heaven Church in Warsaw. After God, family was the LOVE of his life…he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother.
He leaves behind his wife: Beverly June Konkle, Warsaw; two sons: David (Michelle) Shepherd, Jacksonville, Fla.; Danny (Lisa) Shepherd, Warsaw; and his daughter: Billie (Doug) Myers, Columbia City. Also surviving are his favorite ten grandchildren: Joel, Zach, Randall, Elizabeth, Nathaniel, Burl III, Raeann, Raechal, James and Joe; eighteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers: Wayne (Diane) Konkle, Michigan; Marion (Pauline) Konkle, Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Patti.
LeRoy’s life will be celebrated at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, at God’s Highway to Heaven Church, 555 Weber Street, Warsaw, and officiated by Pastor Bob Brown. Friends and family may come and visit prior to the service from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A graveside service will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Palestine. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Indiana.
Memorial donations may be directed to God’s Highway to Heaven Church, 555 Weber Street, Warsaw, Indiana 46580 and would be appreciated by the family.
