St. Joe Girls 59, NorthWood 50
In a showdown of traditional area powers, St. Joe protected its turf with a nine-point win Tuesday evening.
NorthWood recovered after scoring just three points in the first quarter, pulling within eight at the half and five after three, 43-38. St. Joe (4-3) would win the fourth quarter, 16-12, to close out the victory.
Alea Minnich was all over the place for NorthWood (0-5), recording 14 points, 11 rebounds, six steals and four assists. Kendal Miller had 15 points and two assists, and Bre Wise added five boards, two assists and two steals.
The Indians took care of the JV contest 37-27. Megan Mikel led NorthWood with five points and five boards, Sidney Martin added 10 rebounds and Olivia Oman chipped in six points.
Bethany Christian Girls 73, Lakeland Christian 19
Bethany (4-3) rolled in a home win at the Mennolands in the Hoosier Plains Conference.
A 27-2 first quarter was all she wrote as Bethany had eight players score in the quarter. Nine of the 10 Bruins scored, led by Mariah Stoltzfus’ 16 points. Sadie Brenneman and Zoe Willems each had 12 points.
LCA (1-2) was held to just six field goals in the game. Jessi Calizo led the team with nine points.
