Salvation Army Seeks Bell Ringers
News Release
WARSAW — The Salvation Army in Kosciusko County needs bell ringers.
The organization launched its Christmas Campaign on Saturday, Nov. 28, but sign-up for volunteers has been down due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We understand that people are being careful right now and expected lower turnout for ringers,” said Envoy Ken Locke, corps administrator. “We want to at least get Friday’s and Saturday’s kettles manned at Walmart and Kroger in Warsaw. The needs have increased this year and the donations are more important than ever.”
Last year was a banner Christmas Campaign with a record amount of $48,200 raised in the county. The campaign runs through Dec. 24, so there is still time to volunteer. Individuals, churches, businesses and groups may sign up at www.registertoring.com.
Volunteer ringers are asked to wear masks and winter gloves and use hand sanitizer when finishing their shift. Aprons are not being used to reduce the chance of the spread of infection.
“This is a challenging year for many people and we have seen many coming in for assistance,” Locke said. “We appreciate the support we get from folks in Kosciusko County for almost 100 years.”
