Thomas Allan Besson, 71, Nappanee, went home to be with the Lord and his family in Heaven on Wednesday, Nov. 25, 2020, in Witham Health Services Hospital, Lebanon. Tom was born March 13, 1949, in Warsaw, to R. Dale and Mary (Watkins) Besson. On Feb. 19, 1972, a very cold and blustery day, he was united in marriage to Cindy Yoder at Mt. Tabor Church of God, Etna Green.
Tom was a 1967 graduate of Warsaw High School and went on to graduate from Valparaiso Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Tom, as everyone knew him, was a friendly person who was a Sunday morning round table breakfast club member at the Keg in Leesburg, Leesburg Lions Club member and DMT sponsor of the Cattlemen’s Association. He enjoyed farming and his family who always came first in his heart. He was employed at the time of his death at Creighton Bros. as a truck driver, formerly part owner of Lesco, Inc and presently was part owner of DMT Enterprises. Since his childhood he was a member of Clunette United Methodist Church.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cindy Besson; two sons, Blaine Besson, Nappanee, and Todd (Brenda) Besson, Leesburg. Tom is also leaving behind two grandchildren, Ryder Besson, Rochester and Ariana Besson, Fla. and “adopted” special grandson James Meigs, Fla. In addition, he is survived by one brother, Mike (Jan) Besson, Sarasota, Fla., and Centerville, Ohio; sister, Carol Besson, Nokomis, Fla.; two nephews and four nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Curt Allan Besson.
A visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, at McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw. A private family funeral service will be held with Pastor Mike Beezley officiating. Burial will follow at Leesburg Cemetery.
Due to current COVID-19 recommendations, masks are required. The public is kindly requested to provide their own. Social distancing is strongly encouraged. No food permitted at this time.
