Richard Lawrence “Dick” Beall, 91, North Webster, formerly of Syracuse, passed away at 9:59 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 29, 2020, at his home. He was born on March 14, 1929, in Mishawaka to Marvin and Aline (Miller) Beall.
He received his early education at Middlebury Schools and in Kentucky before returning to Middlebury where he graduated from Middlebury High School. He was married on Sept. 29, 1950, to Elsie M. Miller who preceded him on Oct. 22, 1984. He then remarried on April 10, 1987, in North Webster, to Joan E. (Funderburg) Wagoner who survives.
He retired in 1993 from Millersburg Elementary School as a head custodian after 16 years. He was formerly employed at Goshen Stamping for 24 years, was the church custodian at Burns Ave. Church of God in Lake Wales, Fla. for ten years, and worked Owen Family Funeral Home in Syracuse until he turned 80 years old. He lived his first 64 years in Middlebury, Kentucky, Millersburg, and Goshen areas. He moved to Lake Wales, Fla. in June 1993 and returned to the Syracuse and North Webster area in October 2005.
He attended Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and formerly attended the Clinton Brick Mennonite Church in Millersburg, Burns Ave. Church of God in Lake Wales, FL and North Webster & Goshen Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Joan Beall of North Webster; three daughters: Connie (Vernon) Graber of Goshen, Marlene (Loren) Hershberger of Syracuse, and Paula (Terry) Price of Middlebury; two sons: Wayne Beall of Boise, Idaho and Alfred “Al” Beall of Columbia City; stepdaughter: Kimberly (Richard) Owen of North Webster; three stepsons: Rev. Mark (Lisa) Wagoner of Neon, KY, Matthew (Terri) Wagoner of North Webster, and Mitchell Wagoner of Syracuse; ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; 15 step-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, brother, William Beall, and step grandson, Robert Owen.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 2, at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 3, in the funeral home with Pastor’s Mark Wagoner & David Henry officiating. Family request that masks be worn for services. Services will be streamed live on the Owen Family Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow in the North Webster Cemetery.
