Wawasee HS Extends Virtual Learning Through Nov. 20
News Release
SYRACUSE — Geoff Walmer, principal of Wawasee High School, announced the school will continue to operate virtual only through Friday, Nov. 20.
As was announced earlier this week, Monday, Nov. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 24, will be eLearning days for all students in the school corporation.
The next scheduled day for students to be physically present at WHS is Monday, Nov. 30.
“We will continue to remain in communication with district officials with regards to the week after Thanksgiving,” Walmer said. “While there is consideration of continuing virtual-only through that week, that has not been decided at this time. We plan to make that decision as we get closer to that week so we understand how the virus is impacting us at that time.”
There is a difference between virtual learning and eLearning. With virtual learning, students access their classes via Google Meet. For eLearning, students check teacher Google Classrooms and complete assignments. There is not a schedule to follow or Google Meets for students to attend.
Pathways classes and Applied Skills with David Shipley and Emma Coppes will not operate in person Nov. 23 and 24. Buses will not be running those two days. Those classes will also operate through eLearning.
