WARSAW – Some speculation remained Friday night and into the weekend on whether Warsaw would host or travel to Homestead for the football sectional championship.
The decision has been made, and Homestead will serve as host for this Friday’s football sectional championship.
Homestead (9-1) will host Warsaw (8-2) at 7 p.m. for the Class 6-A Sectional 3 championship. Initially, Southwest Allen County Schools, which houses Homestead, had not allowed fans at athletic contests in regards to the latest spike in COVID-19 cases in Allen County. The decision to allow fans this Friday at Homestead will still see a very limited amount of fans.
The Spartans, ranked No. 8 in the last regular season poll, holds an 11-6 series advantage on Warsaw, including the last four matchups which includes a 52-27 win over Warsaw in the 2016 sectional championship. Warsaw’s last win over Homestead was in 2009.
