Adams Central 38, Triton 14
The Jets held a tenuous 7-0 halftime lead, but turned on the jets, so to speak, in flying away from the Trojans in the second half.
An Alex Currie rushing score was all the first half saw, but the Jets used a field goal and a pick six by Mason DeRoo to take a stunning 17-0 lead. A 15-yard touchdown catch by Josh Mosser put the game away for the host from Adams County.
Triton (4-6) was led by Hunter McIntyre, which paced the team with 11 rushes for 103 yards and a touchdown. McIntyre also returned a kickoff 75 yards for another score.
Adams Central (8-2) will meet either Southwood (10-0) or Caston (3-7) in the Class 1-A No. 44 sectional championship next week, the Knights and Comets playing Saturday in Wabash.
Leo 14, NorthWood 12
NorthWood held a 12-6 advantage at the halftime break, but couldn’t find a way to make it hold up.
In the Class 4-A Sectional 19 game played at Leo, Nate Newcomer scored both touchdowns for the Panthers on runs of one and 11 yards. The pair of two-point tries, however, were incomplete, leaving NorthWood with 12 points.
Leo countered with a 43-yard touchdown run from Dallen Wirtz, it’s extra point kick missing the mark.
The only score of the second half came from Jackson Barbour, who tied the game in the third quarter, then Leo punched in the two-point conversion to take the lead and eventually hold on for the victory.
NorthWood sees its season end at 4-4 overall while Leo (10-1) will host East Noble next Friday, the Knights (8-3) besting DeKalb (2-6), 14-7, in the other sectional semi-final.
