UPDATE: One Person Taken To Hospital After Two-Vehicle Collision

WARSAW — One person was taken to a hospital for ankle pain after a two-vehicle accident near Atwood on Saturday.
At approximately 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 24, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officers responded to a report of a two-vehicle accident on North CR 800W, north of West US 30.
Jordan M. Jones, 19, Northwood Drive, Nappanee, was operating a silver 2008 Pontiac G6B south on CR 800W. Police documents state Jones’ cellphone went off. When Jones looked down to silence his cellphone, his vehicle went left of the center line, striking a white 2011 Ford Escape in the rear driver’s side door. The Ford Escape was being driven by Derek J. Neill, 40, Sunray Drive West, Osceola.
Jones complained of hand pain but declined medical treatment at the scene. Neill complained of right ankle pain was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital.
Atwood and Etna Township Fire Departments, Etna Township First Responders and Lutheran EMS also responded to the scene.
Damages are estimated at up to $25,000.
