Mangas Reaches Another Milestone

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. – The decorated career of Kyle Mangas added another milestone.
Mangas nailed a three-pointer with 5:21 to go in the second half to give him 2,501 points for his career, adding another honor to an already full case of trophy basketballs. Mangas scored 25 points overall on the night as No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan opened its 2020-21 men’s basketball season with a 117-82 blowout of host Olivet Nazarene.
Mangas, the 2020 NAIA National Player of the Year, was 10-18 overall from the floor, but his milestone three was the only shot he made from deep on seven attempts. He added seven assists and six rebounds for the Wildcats.
Seth Maxwell nearly added a triple double, finishing with 20 points, 14 rebounds and nine blocks, and Dylan Anderson led all scorers with 26 points and added five assists.
Mangas’ run at Indiana Wesleyan has been outstanding through three years, which includes being named a three-time NAIA FIrst Team All-American and three-time Crossroads League Player of the Year. Mangas, a 2017 Warsaw Community High School graduate, was the 2019 and 2020 Crossroads League Athlete of the Year, the 2020 Bevo Francis Award winner, and was the 2018 NAIA National Tournament Most Outstanding Player as the Wildcats won an NAIA national championship.
