Multiple Thefts Reported Throughout Lakeland Area
News Release
KOSCIUSKO COUNTY — During the overnight hours of Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Wednesday, Oct. 7, there were multiple thefts from vehicles reported throughout the Syracuse area. These thefts occurred in a residential neighborhood.
Two vehicles were also stolen from the area. One vehicle has since been recovered in Niles, Mich.
This is an ongoing investigation by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office. Currently there are no suspects in the investigation. However, similar thefts occurred in Bremen the week prior.
Multiple thefts from vehicles during the overnight hours of Friday, Sept. 25, and Saturday, Sept. 26, were reported in an area around Lake Wawasee. These thefts are being investigated by the Syracuse Police Department.
Recent thefts include items such as cash and firearms. Davidsen’s Pier Service in North Webster recently reported its red, white and blue barge stolen. The catalytic converter was also stolen from the Wawasee Lakeside Chapel bus.
The sheriff’s office urges all residents to keep vehicles locked at all times. Everyone is also urged to keep valuables and firearms secured inside a residence and not in a vehicle.
