Cowan, Richner Land Academic Honors

INDIANAPOLIS – Golf is a game largely built about mental approach. It should be no surprise the sport is chock full of intelligent people, and the Indiana Coaches of Girls Sports Association (ICGSA) recognized its choices for the 2020 with its Academic All-State awards.
To earn consideration, the golfer must be a senior playing in at least 50 percent of the varsity contests, carry a 3.5 grade point average or better, and score at least an 1110 on the SAT and/or 24 on the ACT.
Earning Academic All-State awards locally was Wawasee’s Tate Cowan, who was joined in Honorable Mention status from NorthWood’s Abbie Richner.
Also landing area Academic All-State were Concord’s Evelyn Theinert and Belle Brunner, Goshen’s Estella Borden, Columbia City’s Kaitlyn Hoag, Mishawaka Marian’s Alivia Weisser, New Prairie’s Jordan Winters and Zoie Martinez, and South Bend Clay’s Lydia Talcott and Nova Schmitt-Gonzalez.
Concord’s Gracie Tucker was tabbed as Honorable Mention.
