Westview 3, Concord 2
Westview’s doubles teams gave the Warriors the edge in knocking off the Minutemen in the Concord Regional final Wednesday afternoon.
Brady Hosterler and Will Clark kept their perfect tournament going, beating Cayden Rohrer and Gavin Smith 7-5, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles while the Tim Brandenberger and Issac Rogers pairing bested Thomas Burkert and Brayden Newburn in a 6-1, 6-4 final in the two dubs matchup.
Isaiah Hostetler continued his unbeaten tournament run at No. 1 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 victory over Bryson Schrock.
For the Minutemen, Mitchell Whitehead lost just one game to Brennan Beachy at No. 3 and Nathan Schraw withstood Elijah Hostetler 6-4,4-6, 6-4 at No. 2 singles.
Westview (21-2) moves to the semi-state for the second straight year, where it will take on Homestead at the Homestead Semi-state.
Individually, NorthWood’s Ben Vincent kept his season alive with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Elkhart’s Spencer Dexter. Vincent moves on to face Matt Margraf of Jimtown in Thursday’s individual sectional championship. Margraf reached the final by beating Fairfield’s Colin Hochstedler 6-2, 6-2.
In doubles play, Northridge’s Evan Nay and Aaron Cripe moved to the regional round after beating Nick Ruterford and Sam Versin of Fremont 6-0, 6-2.
Peru Regional
Bremen 4, Culver Academy 1
Bremen kept is sterling season going, advancing to the semi-state with a rout of the Eagles.
Bremen pulled wins from all of its singles courts to race past the Eagles, led by a one and one win from Mark Bahr over Simon Grim. and a love and three win from Carson Miller over Aydin Turget. Dawson Hickman completed the singles sweep with a 7-6 (5), 7-5 win against Qizong Feng.
Bremen also had a point from No. 2 doubles, a four and one win from Camden Hickman and Jose deLeon against Arthur Davidson and Wesley Henthorn. Culver got its point at No. 1 doubles, where Nathaniel Posner and Paul Wilson posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Shay Kyser and Mason Porter.
The Culver duo will continue on in the individual state tournament Thursday, where they will take on Plymouth’s Cameron Shively and Easton Strain.
In the individual singles parlay, Manchester’s Brady Wiley kept his season alive with a love and one victory over Wawasee’s Holden Babb. Babb had won all three of his sectional matches ahead of the Culver contest with Wiley, where the Manchester ace will take on Rochester’s Grant McCarter on Thursday.
