WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after choking and battering a woman.
Aurelio Angelo Tamez, 46, 615 E. Market St., Warsaw, is charged with strangulation and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On Aug. 1, a Warsaw Police officer responded to a report of a verbal argument and spoke with a woman who had red marks around her throat and neck. According to court documents, the woman said Tamez had choked her.
During a verbal argument between Tamez and the woman, Tamez began packing belongings to leave the residence. As the verbal argument continued, Tamez allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s neck and then began dragging her down the porch steps. Tamez left the scene on foot.
The officer also interviewed a child at the scene, who said they and a second child were in the residence and could hear the argument. At one point, the child said they heard the woman crying and yelling, leading them to go outside.
Tamez was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 22, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
