ELKHART COUNTY — The monthly Elkhart County Health Board meeting originally scheduled for Sept. 24, has been rescheduled as a WebX meeting that will be held next week at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29. A link will be available to the public on the Elkhart County website.
The meeting has been rescheduled as an online meeting to ensure the safety of everyone who participates and the people who those participants may have contact with afterward. The originally scheduled meeting was cancelled out of an abundance of caution when approximately 50 people showed up without wearing masks.
The county meeting room is relatively small. Thus, it was deemed unwise by the board to hold a meeting in an environment where participants were not taking prudent steps to limit the spread of COVID-19. Health department board members, several of whom are physicians and see patients every day, could not responsibly enter the room.
Data that will be shared at the online meeting shows a dramatic reduction in hospitalizations over the past three months. The board will thank frontline healthcare workers, various task forces, groups and the citizens of Elkhart County for making this progress possible.
The WebX meeting link and details will be posted by end of today, Friday, Sept. 25.
