Volleyball Results: Sept. 22
NorthWood 3, Goshen 0
The Panthers moved to 4-0 in the Northern Lakes Conference with a 25-18, 25-16, 25-15 win over visiting Goshen Tuesday night at The Pit.
NorthWood (14-4 overall) hung its hat on the usuals, getting 13 kills from Ali Knepp, 26 assists from Kendal Miller and 17 digs from Annika Bennett to pace the victory. Alana Lehman contributed seven kills and two blocks, Bennett had another nine assists and two blocks, Bre Wise sent over five aces and Macy Lengacher dug 14 attempts.
NorthWood’s junior varsity came through with a 25-19, 25-10 victory in the matinee.Hannah Chupp led the scoring column for the Panthers with eight aces and three kills and Caitlyn Glick added five kills. Amy Adams and Macie Knepp combined for 14 assists and Adams had six digs.
Fort Wayne Carroll 3, Warsaw 1
Fort Wayne Carroll slowed down what had been a red-hot Warsaw side in a 25-16, 25-12, 16-25, 25-22 final in the Carroll Fieldhouse.
The Tigers (16-7) came into the night winners of eight of its nine matches in September, but couldn’t get over on a traditionally strong Charger program. Melaina Hawblitzel led Warsaw with 11 kills and Kaylee Weeks was one behind at 10. Kylie Smith dug 15 attempts and Avery Hales had 33 assists and nine digs.
The Carroll JV won 25-12, 25-19. Clara Porter had a solid night with four digs, four assists, two kills, two aces and a block.
The Carroll freshman team completed the sweep, and also handed Warsaw its first loss in a 25-23, 25-15 result. Abbie Mauk and Megan Silveus each had 10 digs, Olivia Devenney and Leah Henderson each had three kills and Claire Reichenbach had eight assists and five aces for the Tigers.
Triton 3, Winamac 2
Triton kept its hopes for the Hoosier North Athletic Conference championship alive with an exciting 25-15, 20-25, 22-25, 25-23, 15-11 marathon at Winamac.
The Trojans (13-4, 3-1 HNAC) saw Abbey Viers, Addyson Viers and Lexia Hostrawser combine for 43 kills, Molly McFarland, Taren Yates and Jaela Faulkner combine for 41 digs, Emma Hepler send up 48 assists, Abbey Viers and Madeline Doll combine for four blocks and Kinsey Atkins sail three aces.
The Triton JV (10-5) made less work of its 25-17, 25-14 win over the Warriors. Morgan Feldman led the charge with six digs and five kills, Lauren Snyder had 10 assists, Lendal Doll had four aces and Danica Kuntz added six digs.
