NorthWood 5, Fairfield 0
NorthWood traveled east to visit backyard rival Fairfield Friday afternoon, and the Panthers turned in a shutout.
All three singles courts won in straights for the Panthers, led by a three and love closeout by Ben Vincent over Colin Hochstedler at No. 1 singles. Brady Chupp had the same score, just the opposite games, love and three, in a win over Kaden Plett at No. 2, and Chaz Yoder needed a tiebreaker in the second set to put away Cooper LeCount 6-3, 7-6 (3).
The two dubs team of Brad Demitruk and Charles Anderson paired up to best Ethan Yoder and Brandon Kauffman two and four, and after losing 6-4 in the first set, Gage Gongwer and Treyton Martin put together a 6-4, 6-3 comeback on Mick Moore and Lance Martin at one dubs to ice the shutout.
JV courts split 6-6 in matches played at NorthWood. Winners for NorthWood in singles play included Isaac Roberts and Wes Steiner.
NorthWood (7-9) will visit Wawasee Monday.
Grace Men 4, Judson 0
The Lancers (8-1) played host to Judson, who is receiving votes in the NAIA Top 25.
The doubles’ point went to Grace. Ramiro Candia and Mauricio Corty earned a 6-2 win at No. 3 doubles. Ivan Antinori and Fabricio Galvan wrapped up the doubles’ point with a 7-5 victory at No. 2.
Galvan was efficient in his win at No. 3 doubles (6-0, 6-2), and Popovic picked up a 6-1, 6-3 victory at No. 5. The match was secured for the Lancers with Sandi’s 7-5, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
The Lancers have one nonconference match remaining before starting the Crossroads League Tournament. On Monday, Grace hosts Trine for a 4 p.m. match.
The league tournament begins Tuesday as No. 2 seed Grace will host No. 7 seed Bethel.
