Phyllis Metta Dunlap, 92, Warsaw, passed away at 10:27 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020, at her residence.
She was born on Nov. 2, 1927, in Rockford, to Maude (Larson) Christiansen and Alfred Christiansen. On Oct. 22, 1949, she was married to Russel H. Dunlap. She shared 46 years of marriage together before he passed away on Oct. 18, 1995.
She was a resident of Kosciusko County for 32 years. She graduated from West Rockford High School, Rockford, Ill. and attended Rockford Business School. She helped her husband with his Christian ministry at Grace Brethren Home Missions. Phyllis was a longtime member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church where she was a familiar face and she very much enjoyed the fellowship with her church family. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
She will be lovingly remembered by her two sons: Bradley R. (Luann) Dunlap, Columbia City; Brian S. Dunlap, Warsaw; two daughters: Beth Barnat, Warsaw; Barbara (Brian) Kern, New Tripoli, Penn.; nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, as well as four four step-grandchildren and 12 step-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Fred Christiansen, sister, Marion H. MacFarland, her granddaughter, Rebecca Barnat, nephew, Wes Christiansen and her niece, Karen Miller.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-noon on Saturday, Sept. 26, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw. Phyllis’ life will be celebrated with a service immediately following visitation at noon and officiated by Pastor Kip Cone. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
