Kurt Miller Memorial Tractor Drive Is Saturday
SILVER LAKE — The Kurt Miller Memorial Tractor Drive will be Saturday, Sept. 19, leaving Metzger Trucking in Silver Lake at 9:30 a.m.
The event is also part of The Echoes of the Past, which is a tractor club in Kosciusko County.
Miller passed away at the age of 17 in a garden tractor accident in 2015. At the time of his death, he was a junior at Tippecanoe Valley High School.
Registration starts at 8 a.m. People may unload at Metzger Trucking, 208 Jefferson St., Silver Lake. This will be the starting and ending point of the tractor drive.
Guidelines for the tractor drive are:
• No passenger or rider may participate without an approved seat. All passengers and riders seats must be approved.
• Drivers must be able to maintain a 10-12 mph speed limit.
• Drivers must be 16 years or older to drive, unless riding on the tram or in an approved seat.
• Everyone must register, even if riding on the tram.
People may watch the route near Silver Lake. It starts at Metzger Trucking, proceeding to SR 15, around Silver Lake to SR 14 through the country, past Yellow Creek then to the Miller’s house.
The tractor drive is approximately a 25-mile drive. The drive will be going to Kurt’s parents, Kyle and Melinda Miller, for lunch at approximately 11 a.m. then to the Igloo Ice Cream Shop for dessert.
There will be a donation jar at lunch; all money will proceed the Kurt Miller Memorial Fund that is set up at the Kosciusko County Community Foundation. The endowment will support organizations that were important to Miller, including Tippecanoe Valley FFA, Kosciusko County 4-H Council, Seward Township Volunteer Fire Department and Echoes of the Past.
