Volleyball Results: Sept. 17
Tippecanoe Valley 3, Manchester 2
Manchester had Valley on the ropes on Senior Night on Rita Price Simpson Court, but it was the Vikings’ night after all.
After the Squires won the first two games, 25-20 and 25-21, Valley rallied to win the final three games 25-22, 25-29, 15-12 to also salvage a precious win in the Three Rivers Conference.
Leading the way for the Vikings (7-4, 5-0 TRC) were Bree Sheetz with 12 digs and 11 kills, Brayden Baney with 26 digs, Delaney Wagoner with 14 kills and Hayley Backus with six kills and five blocks.
The Valley JV opened the night with a 25-15, 25-8 result. Mallory Bowers and Ava Smith combined for seven kills in the win.
Warsaw 3, Plymouth 0
Warsaw remained atop the Northern Lakes Conference standings with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-16 win at Plymouth.
Warsaw (16-6, 4-0 NLC) commanded play at the net, with Kennedy Lauck pounding 12 kills, Kaylee Weeks one back at 11, Melaina Hawblitzel with eight and Avery Hales with six. Kylie Smith had 24 digs and added seven assists and a pair of aces, Hales added 38 assists and the trio of Hales, Abbie Porter and Liz Schmidt all had nine digs.
JV bragging rights went to Warsaw, a 25-7, 25-20 winner over the Pilgrims. Jael Namfukwe and Sadie Walden each had six digs, Clara Porter led the offense with five kills with Delaney Silveus and Madi Desenberg each with four kills, and Tessa Graney tossed up 13 assists and four aces.
Claire Reichenbach’s eight assists and five aces, Megan Silveus’ nine digs and Abbie Mauk’s five kills pushed Warsaw to a 25-16, 25-13 win over the Plymouth C-team.
Concord 3, Wawasee 1
Wawasee lost a tough match at home against Concord in an 18-25, 25-12, 24-26, 20-25 result.
Dylan Konieczny had a huge night for Wawasee (9-5, 0-3 NLC) with a career-high 13 kills and Emma Dippon contributed 11 kills. Amanda Allen did what she could with 34 assists and 16 digs.
The Wawasee JV fared better with a 22-25, 25-19, led by a combined 35 digs from Alli McClintic, Talia Kuhl and Emma Young, Young adding 16 assists and McClintic four aces.
NorthWood 3, Mishawaka 0
NorthWood picked up another NLC win with a 27-25, 25-18, 25-15 wear down of Mishawaka in The Cave.
Ali Knepp stepped forward with 14 digs and Alea Minnich sent home 10 to pace the Panthers (12-4, 3-0 NLC). Annika Bennett stepped up with 14 digs, seven assists and three aces, Alana Lehman rejected five Mishawaka tries, Kennedy Hochstetler had 16 digs and Kendal Miller hoisted 33 assists.
Mishawaka salvaged a JV win, 25-10, 24-25, 15-13 over NorthWood. Izzy Weldy was busy for the Panthers with 12 digs, four kills and two aces and Hannah Chupp added 10 digs and two aces.
