WARSAW — A Milford man received a three-year prison sentence for dealing methamphetamine.
Joseph Alexander Stewart, 20, 208 W. Fifth St., Milford, was charged with dealing in methamphetamine, a level 5 felony. A methamphetamine possession charge was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. An unlawful syringe possession case was also dismissed.
Stewart was sentenced in Kosciusko Circuit Court on Monday, Sept. 14.
On Sept. 5, 2019, the NET43 Drug Task Force made a controlled purchase of 4.1 grams of methamphetamine from Stewart in Kosciusko County. The purchase was captured by digital surveillance.
Defense Attorney Austin Rovenstine said this case would be Stewart’s first felony conviction and asked Judge Michael Reed to recommend Stewart for Recovery While Incarcerated.
For dealing in methamphetamine, Judge Reed sentenced Stewart to three years in the Indiana Department of Correction. The sentence will be served consecutively to two other criminal cases. Stewart must also pay $135 in restitution to NET43.
Reed also recommended Stewart for RWI.
