Warsaw Building For Future
Staff Report
WARSAW – Warsaw athletics announced a pair of opportunities for the future of two of its programs to get involved.
Moore Introduces Tiger Basketball Academy
Warsaw boys basketball head coach Matt Moore has announced the Tiger Basketball Academy, created to provide a high level of exposure to players interested in one day becoming a Warsaw basketball player.
The Academy focuses on highly concentrated basketball camps that focus on skillset development and teaching players mastery of the game, which ideally will keep Warsaw among the elite programs in the state. While learning from Moore and his staff, players will get advanced training and exposure and also the opportunity to earn scholarships for great attitude and effort in the classroom.
Opportunities in the Tiger Basketball Academy begin with Team Camp for boys in third through eighth grade. Camp runs Oct. 5-8.
Also on the agenda include Holiday Hoopla (grades 1-8, Dec. 28); Youth Travel League (grades 3-8, Feb.-April); Shooting Camp (grades 1-8, May); Father/Son Camp (grades 3-8, May); Skills Camp (grades 1-6, June); and MS Elite Camp (grade 6-8, June).
“We are excited about rolling out Tiger Basketball Academy and all that it entails,” said Moore in a statement. “We believe it is going to help give youth players in our community an opportunity to continue to learn, develop and also expose them to more modern ways the game is evolving. We want to celebrate what Tiger basketball has stood for through the years and build upon that with a multitude of experiences throughout the year to challenge our players to be their best. The rewarding part for me is the connection it has to the classroom with our scholarships for student-athletes who demonstrates outstanding attitude throughout their learning experience and giving a great effort every day. Those are ultimately the players who make the best teammates and ones that will make our community proud to support.”
Volleyball Hosting Elementary Night
In a family theme, the Warsaw High School volleyball program will hold an Elementary Night to spotlight the future of the program. The event is scheduled for the timeframe between the junior varsity and varsity game on Thursday, Oct. 8, when the Tigers host the Concord Minutemen.
Players wearing their school jerseys or T-shirts will be admitted free. High school players representing the elementary schools will walk out during introductions before the high school game.
The elementary tournament will conclude on Saturday, Oct. 3.
