Valley Claims TRC Title
Slow and steady won the race Saturday at the Three Rivers Conference Girls Golf Championships at Maple Grove Golf Club.
Valley was the first to get its four into the top 16, sliding Molly Moriarty into its fourth spot to finish off a 382, two strokes better than Whitko’s 384 and three better than Maconaquah’s 385.
Madelyn Weaver led Valley with a 90, followed by Lily Ault at 94 and Kaydence Mellott at 98 to go with Morairty’s score in the championship performance. Cheney Canada was the fifth score for Valley at 110.
Whitko’s Kyle Hathaway turned in a 90 to lead the Wildcats, with Guinny Garr and Gus Garr at 95 and 96, and Erin Starkweather at 103.
Rochester’s Kristianna Lingenfelter posted an 85 to win medalist honors, one stroke better than Northfield’s Alex Cartwright.
Triton Gains Experience At HNAC Tourney
Triton sent out its three Trojans knowing it wouldn’t win a team title, but gained another 18 holes of tournament experience Saturday at Chesapeake Run in the Hoosier North Athletic Conference Girls Golf Championships.
In what amounted to just five schools eligible for the title, Winamac won the title with a 434, followed by Pioneer at 438 and North Judson at 468 as the top three.
Triton had Haley Rensberger led the team with a 114, with Maddie Ritchison one back at 115 and Lilly Hubert not far behind at 118.
Only three golfers cracked 100, with Pioneer’s Hailey Gotshall shooting a 92 to take tournament medalist, Winamac’s Keira Bucinski at 97 as tourney runner-up and LaVille’s Elliana Lemberis one under the line at 99.
