WARSAW — The Family Video store in Warsaw will soon cease operations after temporarily closing earlier this year due to the pandemic.
The store at 109 E. Winona Ave., offers DVDs, Blu-Rays and video games for rent. THC-free cannabidiol products are also available for purchase.
According to Bill Mohler, regional vice-president of Highland Ventures, the company that owns Family Video, the store will close at the end of October and is currently having a liquidation sale.
“COVID certainly didn’t help us,” said Mohler. “We had to be shut down for a while and there wasn’t enough bounce back. Hollywood has also slowed down movie production, which has slowed new releases we’re getting in.”
Warsaw’s Family Video store opened in 2009. Mohler said the company decided to close a handful of stores in Indiana but that a lot of stores will still stay open.
According to the Family Video website, there are over 500 Family Video stores in 20 states.
The Marco’s Pizza store that had been adjacent to the store closed in 2019.

“It’s a great location,” said Mohler. “We’re hopeful that we’ll quickly find someone to lease it.”
On the LegacyPro website, several Family Video locations are listed for sale, including locations in Wabash, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Fort Wayne and South Bend.
