Volleyball Results: Sept. 3
Warsaw 3, Goshen 0
The Tigers (10-5, 2-0 NLC) grabbed its second Northern Lakes Conference this week with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-15 win at Goshen.
Avery Hales set ’em up and also knocked ’em down in the Hawks Nest, leading the team with 32 assists but also seven kills, chipping in three digs and two aces for good measure. Kennedy Lauck also had seven kills and Kylie Smith dug 14 attempts. and had three aces.
Jael Namfukwe had six kills, three aces and a dig in Warsaw’s 25-11, 25-15 win in the JV contest. Delaney Silveus added five aces and the combo of Tessa Graney and Clara Porter had 25 assists.
Ava Wetzel whistled over 13 aces to lead the freshmen Tigers to a 25-16, 25-12 victory.
NorthWood 3, Concord 0
Concord put up a big fight, but NorthWood advanced through the three games to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 slugfest with the host Minutemen.
NorthWood leaned on the duo of Alea Minnich, who had 11 kills and a block, and Ali Knepp, who sent home 10 kills and dug 15 Concord efforts. Kennedy Hochstetler led the Panthers with 17 digs and Kendal Miller offered 23 assists.
The Panthers, winners of eight straight, move to 8-1 overall and 1-0 in the NLC.
Plymouth 3, Wawasee 0
Plymouth spoiled Wawasee’s senior night with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-14 run of the Warriors.
Stat leaders for the Warriors (8-3, 0-1 NLC) included Bailey Mayhew with seven kills and seven digs, Leslie Vazquez with seven kills, five digs, four aces and four blocks, Emma Dippon with four blocks and Amanda Allen with 13 assists.
“Proud of all of our seniors,” began Wawasee head coach Jeff Phillips. “I love coaching every single one and can’t wait to see all of them succeed in the future.”
Wawasee’s JV started the night with a 25-17, 25-23 victory. Talia Kuhl had 13 digs, Abbi Burleison and Olivia Ousley combined for 13 kills, and Emma Young posted 16 assists, four digs and two kills.
Tippecanoe Valley 3, Maconaquah 1
Valley (4-2, 3-0 TRC) put together its biggest win of the season, knocking off the defending Three Rivers Conference champion Braves 13-25, 25-19, 27-25, 25-12 at home.
