Donald D. ‘Donnie’ Williams
Donald D. “Donnie” Williams, 85, Rochester, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2020, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.
He was born on Feb. 26, 1935 in Fulton County, the son of Joseph A. and Anna L. (Baldwin) Williams. After high school, he served with the United States Army. On Oct. 23, 1960, at the First Baptist Church, Rochester, he married Carrie A. Ginn. She preceded him in death on Aug. 30, 2016.
Mr. Williams had been a lifelong farmer. He was a member of the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton Masonic Lodge, Shriners and an active member of Fulton County Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and transporting children to the Shriners’ Hospital in Chicago, Illinois recognized for hundreds of trips to the hospital.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Williams, Los Angeles, Calif.; Kip Williams, Calhoun, Ga.; grandchildren, Ben M. Williams, Brooke M. Williams and Bailey M. Williams, all of Calhoun, Ga.; sister, Shirley Brown, Rochester; nieces and nephews, Pat and wife Jerri Brown, Rochester; Perry and wife Tonya Brown, Rochester; Lynn and husband Joe Williams, Rochester; Brent and wife Catherine Evans, Winamac; Brenda and husband Steve Christian, Minneapolis, Minn.; brother-in-law, Larry Evans, Rocheste. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law, Jim Brown and sister-in –law, Joan Evans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, at the Fulton United Methodist Church, Fulton. Friends may visit from 2-6 p.m. Saturday Sept. 5, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, and one hour prior to service Sunday at the church. Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans’ Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Fulton County Habitat for Humanity.
