Wawasee 4, Whitko 1
There was a lot of 23rd letter alliteration in play as the Wawasee Warriors and the Whitko Wildcats worked for W’s on the tennis courts in Syracuse on Tuesday evening. Of the five matches at stake, the hosts took four of them, easily defeating their guests.
Wawasee ace Holden Babb dropped his first set 2-6 before winning the second and third 6-2 and 6-2. Three singles Devon Kuhn and the doubles pairings of Grant Brooks/Blaine Baut and Ty Brooks/Nathan Harper all won their matches in straight sets. Zeke Keim was the only Warrior to come up short on the evening, falling in straight sets at two singles.
In the JV contest, Wawasee lost 3-2, with Jeb Richey and Will Long each winning their singles matchups.
The Warriors have a date in Dunlap with NLC foe Concord on Thursday evening.
