NorthWood 155, Wawasee 185, Plymouth 192
It was a beautiful afternoon for high school golf as three NLC foes took the the course at Maxwelton Golf Club in Syracuse. NorthWood junior Cybil Stillson, fired a blistering 1-under 35 to earn medalist honors. Every stroke counted to earn that honor though, as her teammate Breanna Goss was only a stroke behind her, finishing at even par.
As a team, the Panthers dominated the three-way NLC match, earning two conference wins against host Wawasee and Plymouth. Wawasee added a notch on each side of their ledger by besting the ladies from Plymouth by seven strokes.
Rounding out the Panther scorecard were Abbie Richner and Riley Kitson, each finishing the day with 42 swings of the club. Kira Schrock finished with a non-scoring 52 for NorthWood.
Topping the Wawasee ledger was Taylor Cripe, who finished third overall with a round of 41, beating teammate Tate Cowan by one stroke. Ayla Torres had the best round of her high school career, firing a 49,. Rylee Firestone’s 53.finished the Wawasee tally. Izy Losee had the Warriors fifth score, taking 57 strokes to finish the course.
Plymouth’s best efforts came from Annastasia Hutchings and Elaina McDonald, each turing in rounds of 47.
Wawasee returns to action at 5 p.m., taking on NLC foe Goshen at Black Squirrel Golf Club, NorthWood will play at home tomorrow as newly-minted NLC rival Mishawaka comes to Nappanee for a 5 p.m. match.
