Minor Crash Reported In Work Zone

PIERCETON – A minor accident inside a construction work zone on SR 13 injured one person Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 1.
The accident happened around 1:30 p.m. on SR13 north of CR 200N in Tippecanoe Township, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office news release.
A road project to the north resulted in a slowdown in traffic.
According to investigating deputies, a Chrysler Town and Country, driven by Charles N. Hess, 56, of Warsaw, was slowed or stopped in road construction traffic in the northbound lane of the highway. The traffic was under the direction of a flag crew.
A Nissan Versa driven by Roni K. Newsome, 18, of Warsaw, was also northbound. Newsome failed to properly stop her vehicle before striking the rear of the Chrysler.
Joyce Light, a passenger in the Hess vehicle, was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sheriff’s Office pointed out that motorists are reminded to exercise extreme caution while traveling through work zones.
Responding agencies included The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, North Webster Police Department and the North Webster/Tippecanoe Township Fire Department.
