George S. ‘Steve’ Gast
George S. “Steve” Gast, 71, Lafayette, and formerly of Warsaw, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 8, 2020, in I.U. Arnett Hospital, Lafayette. Steve was born Oct. 5, 1948, in Warsaw, to Robert P. and Geneva (Mills) Gast. On Oct. 24, 1992, he married the love of his life, Virginia Lee Kugler, who survives. Steve and Lee are the parents of six children, grandparents to 13 grandchildren and great-grandparents to three great grandchildren.
He worked in retail most of his lifetime. In 2009 he began traveling and working as a maintenance manager in RV Parks in Indiana, California, and Arizona. He loved God and was an angel to many people. He was known to be a great help for many people and displayed his love for everyone He had a willingness to give to others that were in need. Steve was a member of Kosko Conservation & Gun Club. He was a registered skeet shooter. He was a member of St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw and attended St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lafayette.
Steve is survived by wife Virginia “Lee” of Lafayette; children, Bruce (Christi) Gast, Madisonville, Ky.; Kelly (Eric) Swank, Middlebury; Larry Todd (Sandy) Frauhiger, Indianapolis; Kenneth (Lori) Frauhiger, Lafayette; Doug (Billi) Frauhiger, Warsaw; Virginia “Ginger” Ade (Tom Eastburn) of Otterbein. In addition, he is survived by grandchildren, Natasha (Brandon) Mounce, Griffin and Lucy Gast, Bradley, Matthew and Abigail Swank, Josh (Heather) & Grace Frauhiger, Melissa, Dawn, Nathan Ade, Tate, Gabby; 3 great grandchildren, Abigail & Annabelle Mounce, Bricklee Frauhiger; brothers, Dan K. Gast and James Gast. He was preceded in death by both parents; brother, Jack; sister, Sue.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church, Warsaw at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 5. Father Ryan Fischer will be officiating. All arrangements for the family have been entrusted to McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.
