Tippecanoe Valley 214, Bremen 223, Triton no score
On one of the hottest days of 2020, the Lady Vikings had just enough in their tanks to earn a victory at the Round Barn Golf Club at Mill Creek in Rochester. None of the Valley girls was able to break 50 on the par-36 front nine, although Madelyn Weaver was only one stroke away from that threshold. It was enough to win her medalist honors for the match.
Just behind Weaver on the Viking team scorecard was Kaydence Mellott who fired a 52. Three of their teammates, Lily Ault, Cheney Canada and Lydia Miller, each finished at 56, with two of those scores counting in the overall tally. A sixth Viking on the course, Molly Moriarity, took 58 swings to complete the nine holes.
Triton only had three golfers on the course, which was one short of qualifying for a team score. Maddie Ritchison led the Trojans with a 60, while her teammates Haley Rensberger and Lilly Hubert finished with a 63 and 64 respectively.
The ladies from Valley are scheduled to be right back on the course tomorrow in a four-way match with North Miami, Manchester and Whitko, to be played at Peru Municipal Golf Course.
