Warsaw Drops Two In Carmel
Warsaw lost both of its contests Saturday in round robin play at the Carmel Volleyball Tournament.
In its pool, Warsaw (3-5) lost to No. 12 Carmel 25-21, 25-20, 25-21 then fell to No. 4 Providence 25-12, 25-20, 25-11.
In the two games, Avery Hales had 47 assists, eight digs, six kills and three aces to pace the Tigers. Kennedy Lauck had 12 kills and three blocks, Melaina Hawblitzel had 10 kills, Kylie Smith paced the defense with 21 digs and Kendra Love had 14 digs and an ace.
Warsaw’s JV also competed against Carmel and Providence. Emma Cooper and Sadie Walden combined for 31 digs in the two matches, Cooper and Jael Namfukwe each had five kills, and Tessa Graney and Clara Porter combined for 17 assists.
Concordia Escapes With Wawasee Title
Fort Wayne Concordia had to take it to the very end to escape Wawasee with the JV title.
Concordia held off host Wawasee 24-25, 25-8, 15-14 in the championship after both teams entered the championship round finishing 3-0 in pool play.
Concordia beat Elkhart Christian, West Noble and New Haven in straight sets while Wawasee made the championship after beating Garrett, South Bend Washington and Manchester in straights.
For Wawasee (5-1) in the championship game, Talia Kuhl had 13 digs and Laney Gross added eight digs and six kills.
“Overall, our team played cohesively and aggressively,” stated Wawasee coach Bri Foster. “Concordia is a great, energetic team with a well-deserved win. Looking forward to being back in the gym to improve.”
