Farrington Claims Huck’s Title

FORT WAYNE – Wawasee sophomore Kiah Farrington added another award to her mantle after recently winning the U-18 division title at the Huck’s Tennis Showdown.
Farrington, who recently won the points title for the second straight year in the Challenger Tennis Series, knocked off four opponents to win Hucks, which was played at Fort Wayne Carroll High School on Aug. 15.
Farrington started her day with a 6-1 win over Madison England then swept Mya Lash 6-0. In round three, Farrington was able to hold off Gabriella Umbower 5-4 and then completed her unbeaten day with a 5-3 win over Abigail Cruser.
The Huck’s Tennis Showdown is designed for boys and girls ages 12-18 to compete from all over Indiana and Michigan.
Along the other girls round robins, Leah Marquardt of Leo went 3-0 to lead the U-14 Blue division while Mara Boyd of Monclova, Ohio, went 4-0 to lead the U-14 Green division.
In the boys grid, Evan Winters of Auburn went 4-0 to remain the lone undefeated performer.
