Valley Competes At Logansport
The season opener for the Vikings saw both rosters run at the Jacob Graf Memorial Invitational hosted by Logansport Saturday morning.
Coach Mike Inglehearn noted several key performances from seniors Matthew Howes, Chase Miller, Jace Holloway and Ava Craig, as well as freshman Chesnee Miller, who finished 13th overall at 22:08. Howes led the boys side with a time of 18:38, which placed 21st overall.
Western won the boys team title with a scant 40 points, well ahead of Wabash’s 79 points. Valley was 12th in the table of 15 teams. On the girls side, Fishers blew away the field with just 32 points, all five of its runners in the top 10. Cass at 106 was runner-up with Valley placing 11th of 14 teams.
Joe Packard of Western won the boys race with a time of 17:02 while Hamilton Heights’ Maria Mitchell won the girls race at 19:08.
Valley will enter a busy week on the circuit, competing Tuesday at Warsaw, Thursday at Goshen and Saturday at Northfield.
