WARSAW — The Warsaw Community Public Library Board of Trustees approved new operational hours for the library during a meeting on Monday, Aug. 10.
Effective Aug. 31, the library will now operate from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays; from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday through Friday; and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays. WCPL is closed on Sundays.
“What we’ve been doing now is still a temporary time situation in responding to COVID,” said WCPL Library Director Ann Zydek.
The library will now be operational for 48 hours a week.
“Our new normal is going to be 48 hours per week at 21 staff per hour that we are open,” said Zydek. “That’s where we’re at. As a result of enhanced cleaning needed in response to COVID-19, the library will outsource the library cleaning effective Aug. 31.”
During the meeting, board members also discussed the 2021 budget with a focus on salaries for all library staff, including Zydek.
“2022 and 2023 will be the tougher years for revenue streams,” said Zydek. “It depends on how each community is doing and our community seems to be doing stable.”
Board members moved to increase Zydek’s salary based on the budget average for staff members.
The board’s next meeting is at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14.
