AKRON – Caston High School announced its latest athletic hire while Tippecanoe Valley now has a hole to fill.
Gina Hierlmeier was named the new athletic director at Caston High School at its school board meeting this past week. The announcement leaves a void in the Tippecanoe Valley athletic department, to which the school did not announce a replacement, or any news related to the vacated position.
Hierlmeier, a longtime girls basketball coach, took the Valley AD job in 2018, to which the school saw some heightened success. Under Hierlmeier’s watch, Valley won a pair of Three Rivers Conference girls basketball championships, a boys basketball sectional title in 2019, a state runner-up finish in Unified Football in 2019, and numerous individual player awards and accolades.
Hierlmeier replaces Josh Overmyer, who will take an assistant principal job elsewhere.
Both Tippecanoe Valley and Caston opened its 2020 fall sports campaigns this week with girls golf events.
