Loren W. Munson, 84, and a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, was called home on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2020, at 10:35 a.m. from Fort Wayne’s Lutheran Hospital.
Born on March 26, 1936, in Claypool, Loren was the son of Harry A. and Dorothy Holderman Munson. He was one of five children and was a 1954 graduate of Claypool High School. On Sept. 14, 1956, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Snyder, who survives.
Known for his work ethic and his friendly demeanor, Loren worked for Zimmer as a tool cutter grinder. He also owned L & N Tool Grinding, though he was a man of many talents. He enjoyed gardening, often sharing the fruits of his labor, and fishing. He also enjoyed time spent with friends, dinner out and adored time spent with his family and grandchildren. He was a longtime member of Calvary Tabernacle Church of Winona Lake, teaching Sunday school for many years. He also played trumpet and sang in a trio with his brothers.
Those who survive with memories to cherish include his wife, Phyllis Munson, of Claypool; daughter, Lorena (Gary) Jameson, of Shepherdsville, Ky.; grandsons, Eric (Luci) Jameson, of Jeffersontown, Ky.; and Travis Jameson, of Shepherdsville; two brothers, Max Munson, of Warsaw; and David (Margaret) Munson, of Claypool; and sister, Arlene Ryan, of North Webster. Also surviving are two great-grandchildren, Max and Ryleigh; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passing by his parents and a brother, Doyle Munson.
A Life Celebration® will be held with the assistance of Titus Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at Calvary Tabernacle Church, 1300 Wooster Road, Winona Lake, on Friday, Aug. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon. Pastor Rich Maron will officiate the noon funeral with burial to follow in Pleasant Grove Cemetery.
