South Whitley Fall Festival For 2020 Cancelled
News Release
SOUTH WHITLEY – It was decided Tuesday, July 28, at the South Whitley Fall Festival meeting, to cancel the upcoming 2020 festival.
The event, originally scheduled for September 13-16, usually includes various activities like hayrides, car shows, movies in the park, along with races and other competitions. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many festivals alike to rethink their approach.
A statement on the festival’s Facebook page said, “This decision came in part by our belief that some of the larger events would be more difficult to maintain CDC guidelines for proper social distancing. Also, some amusements such as the train ride and bounce houses would be to difficult to keep clean throughout the weekend.”
Another factor in the decision is that some of the corporate sponsors related to the event were reluctant to participate financially during these uncertain times.
“Although the festival as you have come to know it, has been canceled until next year, we wanted to have some sort of celebration for families.” The events Facebook page said.
